For there is nothing either good or bad,
but thinking makes it so.

Extensive research has proved that CBT is the most successful way to treat anxiety disorders, depression, anger management and more. Or it can simply be used to develop more helpful and effective ways to make sense of your one precious life – whatever stage you are at.

How CBT works (CBT, REBT, ACT)

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is an umbrella term for several types of therapy which have a similar approach but different techniques for reaching the goal of being more in control of our emotions. Although it seems comparatively new to us in the UK it was started in the USA in the 1950’s and has gradually evolved. The fundamental premise is that our thoughts are responsible for our action tendencies, behaviors and emotions. We can decide how much attention we pay to our thoughts (although this becomes more difficult when we are in an extreme emotional state!) and can then learn to change how we act and manage how we feel. By understanding that our thoughts are not necessarily true we can change our feelings and behaviour and even our physical symptoms.
